World in Conflict UpdateUpdate #010This tenth update for "World in Conflict" makes the original version compatible for multiplayer games with the upcoming March release of "World in Conflict Complete" and "Soviet Assault". It also includes several new features and bug fixes. The missing maps issue preventing players from joining certain servers has been addressed, a new difficulty level has been added for bots, helicopters can now fire at targets directly beneath them, single-player missions have been balanced and tweaked in several ways, admin spectators can now chat to both teams and much more. For additional details on this update, "World in Conflict Complete" or "Soviet Assault" please visit www.massgate.net.New features:- Securom protection has been removed, the DVD disc is no longer required in the drive during Single Player play.- WIC now has a launcher application that shows the latest news from Massgate.--- A -playonline command line option has been added. When used, the game starts at the Massgate login window.--- Command line options will function as previously after pressing the Start Game-button.- Added option to set bot difficulty level. Add bots to a multiplayer game (LAN or Massgate) to create a skirmish game.- Multiplayer servers with outdated maps or maps the user is missing are highlighted in red in the server browser.--- The names of the missing maps are shown in red in the Info-pane.--- User will be warned when joining servers with maps they are missing.--- When server cycles to a map the user is missing, the user will be kicked from the server.- Admin spectators can now chat to both teams.- The units and names of your friends on Massgate will now be colored green (same as names in the friends-list). - Improved feedback to the clients when the host quits the game. - Rank balance has been disabled for servers with bots on. - In-game links that previously pointed to Massgate, e.g. the user profile picture, will now open a web browser window to the corresponding page on Massgate.net.- Benchmark run now supports ghost runs and additional statistics.- Improved compatibility with TV screens: Game now defaults to desktop resolution properly in 16:9 aspect ratios.- Ad Hoc connectivity for wireless network cards. Windows XP users will need an update from Microsoft to run this.- High resolution Line of Sight rendering on mini map and mega map (enable in Advanced Graphics options).- Extra debris on explosions (enable in Advanced Graphics options).Units and balancing:- When an attack order is given while a unit is moving, the unit no longer stops before starting off towards the target.- Increased visibility of TA markers.- Max range and accuracy of Anti-Air Fortification has been increased.- Armor piercing and blast radius of Carpet Bombing TA has been increased.- Medium helicopters can now fire on targets directly beneath them.- Demolition Engineers' "Demolition Charge" special ability now gives TA points and unit experience.- Several balance changes and tweaks on Single Player missions.Bug fixes:- Improved the napalm and incendiary forest clearing code. There are also several additions and enhancements to the various communications tools featured in the game. The most notable additions are a new rank-based team balance feature, XML feeds for in game statistics, improved clan features and enhancements to the replay function. The same map should no longer load twice in a row.- Fixed issues with server name not working in replays.- Fixed the ”Automatic Team” button. It should now randomize when the teams are even instead of always picking team 1.- The Line of Sight (LOS) shader in Mega Map mode is no longer out of sync with the play field. - Fixed a bug that occurred if you tried to rejoin a match that had ended in your absence.- Fixed exploit where holding down ALT on buildings out of Line Of Sight would show Line Of Fire if it housed infantry.- Fixed bug where changing roles in the middle of an infantry resupply would cause you to permanently lose Reinforcement Points.- Fixed bug with VoIP solo function where all players on your team would see the feedback icon despite not hearing anything.World in Conflict UpdateUpdate #004This is a hotfix to update 3 that adresses two urgent issues.-Fixed a bug where some units failed to auto-acquire enemies.-Fixed a bug where loading a saved game could break AI reinforcements.World in Conflict UpdateUpdate #003 This is the third update for World in Conflict containing several new features, balance changes and bug fixes. Update #3 adds enhancements to replays, the ability to re-join a clan match if the connection drops, many tweaks and balance changes to things like Napalm, the Daisy Cutter and much more. It also addresses several bugs and stability issues and adds additional features to Massgate, like the option to ignore messages from disruptive players. Units and balancing: - Napalm now does some burn damage over time to buildings as well as units.- Trimmed drag selection for infantry to focus on unit icons instead of soldiers.- Changed so that just one movement marker is displayed for infantry squads. - Infantry selection rings will now show on mouse-over.- Orders to use Sprint, Smoke Screen and Flares defensive special abilities will now be given to all selected units with the ability, not just to units of the selected type.- Tweaked the hitboxes for all Medium Attack Helicopters to make them more balanced.- The Daisy Cutter TA animation is now visible for opponents for a much shorter time.- Movement speed for Heavy Anti-Air Vehicle and Repair Tank was reduced slightly.- Decreased direct damage and armor piercing from USSR Heavy Artillery.- Increased recharge time for Medium Artillery special ability by 50%.- Tweaked initial deployment field for attackers on as_Airbase.- Tweaked deployment fields for both factions on do_Farmland.- Tweaked deployment fields for both factions on do_Riverbed.- Tactical Nuke now destroys bridges in a slightly larger radius. This can be disabled with the command line flag "-dontcentergui".World in Conflict UpdateUpdate #002This is the second update for World in Conflict, primarily adding new functionality for server administration, updates to Massgate and fixes to various performance and stability issues.New features:- Several new Admin Commands have been added to give Server Admins increased control. For details on each of the individual commands and how to use them, please visit our forums at www.massgate.net.- A time delay of 20 seconds has been added between Assault rounds.- Clan officers can now invite other players to the clan, as well as kick Grunts.- A successful map vote will now change the map instantly.- Two new permanent chat rooms have been added to Massgate for clan war and few player mode matters.- Players should now get an in-game notification when receiving an "Instant Message".Units and balancing:- The cost for the "Heavy Air Support" Tactical Aid has been reduced from 30/50/70 to 25/45/65.- Score from repairing your own non-repair units has been reduced by 50%.Bug fixes:- Fixed a crash that could occur directly after map load (on systems not supporting Pixel Shader 2.0). Was released on the forums as a Hotfix.- Fixed crashes that could occur on localized versions (languages other than English).- "Solo VOIP" (to specific player(s)) checkbox now stays enabled when exiting score sheet.- Players who experience occasional freezes/lockups can now try to append "-stabilityfactor 10" (without the quotes) to the target path of the WIC shortcut. It can also be toggled in the console (in-game) by typing StabilityFactor 10. The number 10 can be decreased or increased if users want to experiment (StabilityFactor 0 turns the feature off).- The game now defaults to full Field-of-View for Widescreen resolutions (such as 16:9). The widescreen Field-of-View from Update 1 can be used by appending "-widescreenscale" (without the quotes) to the target path of the WIC shortcut.- Entering the Mega-Map no longer resets changes to the camera settings.- Better feedback to players that are moved to the other team as a result of "Team Auto-Balance".- Players should no longer experience disconnects when selecting a role that has already reached its cap.- Players should no longer experience disconnects when buying more units than they had credits for. This could occur if a player “resupplied” and then ordered more troops before the server had responded.- Players should no longer experience disconnects when ordering more Tactical Aid weapons than they could afford. This could happen if a player ordered two different Tactical Aid weapons before the server responded.- Added Dynamic Lag Margin, activated by appending "-lagmargin" (without the quotes) to the target path of the WIC shortcut. This increases the lag margin to a maximum of 0.45 at packet loss / variation in ping.- Updated the NATO heavy helicopter texture.World in Conflict UpdateUpdate #001 2007/10/01This update introduces several new features that allow players to customize their profiles, and it improves the DX10 performance on all graphic cards. The update also includes many smaller fixes, tweaks and balancing improvements.Units and balancing:- The fire rate for US and NATO Heavy Artillery has been improved.- Score for repairing your own repair units has decreased.- Score for repairing friendly units has been increased.- The cost for Airdropped Light Tank Tactical Aid is now higher.- The recharge time for all Airdropped Unit Tactical Aid has been increased.- The target area for Air-to-Air Strike Tactical Aid has been increased.- The view range for Airborne Infantry has been decreased.Server side:- Players per role cap is now a server setting, default is 4.- Auto-kick of idle players has been improved and turned on by default.- Servers can now ban players that have been kicked from the server.- A limited server admin functionality has been added, you can now kick players and change maps.Massgate:- Guestbook, motto and web-link has been added to player profile.- You will no longer auto-scroll to the end of chat when a new message arrives.- Winning a game will now increase the score reported to the leaderboard.- We have updated the description for some awards.Bug fixes:- Targeting bug for Heavy Helicopters has been fixed.- Attack ground directly below Helicopters has been fixed.- No sound is played when enemy units fire out of line of sight.- Earning points and tactical aid when losing infantry units has been fixed.- VOIP does no longer lower volume if VOIP has been turned off.- Move order on mini-map feature has been improved.- Killing infantry squad now counts as only one kill in Massgate stats.- Infantry reinforcement feedback sound is no longer heard by everyone on the team.- Feedback sound now is now played when Offensive Special Ability order is given instead of delivered.- Accepted request does no longer give a generic tactical aid output.- Infantry squads will no longer get de-selected when a member dies.- Performance on ATI DX10 cards has been improved.- Performance on DX10 has generally been improved.- Crater artifacts on ATI cards has been fixed.- Wide screen is now HOR+ instead of VERT-.- You can now save replays in the online only version as well.- Players that get kicked or banned now get a confirmation.- Added description to flags when choosing faction.- The artillery warning marker from the US Heavy Artillery smoke screen Special Ability has been removed.- USSR Heavy Tank now turns turret before firing its special ability.Other:- A console command for scaling time in replays and single player has been added.- You can now use the VOIP outside of team after a match and during loading.For more information or help, visit www.massgate.net.
